browns road farm

Hello! And welcome to our happy little community here on Browns Road Farm! Set upon a private 5 acre farm in Boneo, we have created a diverse environment with many resident animals & aesthetically set up areas for our community to learn, mingle, explore and enjoy :)

Unlike other public farms - we open our home up to the public only through programs, events, workshops & business offerings - each mindfully curated to align with our values and passions in our day to day lives.

Thankyou for being here! I hope you find something for you, your family or your business here so we can see you on the farm soon :)

The Nest

What once just started as a place for our children to learn & grow together, has become so much more. This farm has brought hundreds of families together, it has bloomed community and have had lifelong memories and friendships made. Its seen grandparents watching their youngest grand-children show them what they learnt and built, it has seen children tend to life, nurture newborn animals and grow food from seeds and show pride in doing it along side their family. The farm has seen children grow into themselves - attend for only a few short weeks and blossom into a new version of themselves, a version that suddenly beams with passion, confidence and care towards the world around them. The farm (amongst many more incredible stories) has seen families go from feeling lost or isolated… or needing to feel one in something to share the ebbs and flows and have walked away feeling inspired, a sense of belonging, a fire in their belly and a positive outlook on whats to come next. Community does this!

I have heard the words “Farmer Shel! Look at this!!” more times than I could count and been passed worms from little hands like its a full time job (it is). I have belly laughed every single session, workshop & event I have run in the 4 years I have run them, and ive cried many times in the paddock with families who have shared stories in amongst the safe space of other likeminded others. I have felt deeper connections in 1 hour of meeting people than I have with people I have known for years! I have learnt so much about life & love & everything in between while sharing my days with as many people as I have… all I can say is people have a lot to give! Having a space like this that gives eachother time and energy to feel heard and seen each week blew every expectation I had out the water. It has literally been the most incredible journey to have been on & it has still only just begun…

Community is now my strong suit. I live and breathe ways to bring people together, Little Farmers was the beginning and gave me the confidence to continue to grow the space, bring more value to the experience and expand even deeper into what it takes to build a village.

Please take the time to view my offerings now on the farm - from hosted womens dinners, workshops & events to “Big Farmers” where I run the farm school for adults now! To collaboration offerings like curated setups for photographers and brands needing a location to welcoming other businesses to bring their expertise and share their work in a way that fits in with the space also (I dont sleep) there really is something for everyone!

Dive a lil deeper…

One of the biggest inspiration behind starting Little Farmers was my own journey of becoming a mother. More specifically - my journey of becoming a homeschool mother.

I knew from the moment Isla was a speck in my belly that I wanted her to live a life without school. A decision that honestly was built on fear of the alternative, but has developed into zero fear of anything, just a yearning for the life I know I can give our family.

Isla is now 6 and a half. I have shared bits and pieces of our homeschool lifestyle on my instagram and a few articles I have shared on Substack. I love sharing my honest journey with this choice, I love sharing resources and ways for families to connect with other families, in the form of co-ops or otherwise. And knowing I have inspired so many to not just choose to homeschool, but at the very least explore the options! :)

Therefore, I have decided to close my substack and back date all that I have shared in one streamline blog on here!

This blog will contain homeschool posts, farm details, animals and gardening educational articles, backyard farming setups for those playing along and ‘behind the business’ information! Stay tuned!
